Exhale Hope for ALS

Breathe in the calm. Exhale hope.

Join us for a peaceful and powerful evening at Exhale Hope for ALS—a one-hour gentle, accessible yoga session followed by wine, nibbles, and meaningful connection. Set against the backdrop of a serene sunset and the natural beauty of a local winery, this event offers a moment to pause, reflect, and be present.

Held in a charming outdoor tent, it’s the kind of evening that feels like a deep breath for your soul. Come with friends, family, or simply yourself. Whether you’ve been personally touched by ALS or just want to support a cause that matters, this is your chance to slow down, show up, and be part of something quietly powerful.

No yoga experience necessary. Just bring your mat, your heart, and your intention.

Why Practice With Us

ALS Double Play was founded by Cherrie-Marie Chiu after her brother, Christopher, was diagnosed with ALS at just 32 years old. As Cherrie-Marie and her family learned more about this devastating and fatal disease, she knew she had to take action. Christopher bravely faced ALS for five years before his passing, and in that time, he inspired a promise: that his story would be shared to raise awareness and fuel the fight to make ALS history. ALS Double Play exists to honour that promise—and to build a future filled with hope for every family facing ALS.

Why Practice Yoga With Us?

When you join Exhale Hope for ALS, you're practicing for more than just a cause—you're practicing for change. ALS Double Play:

  • Raises awareness about ALS to help more people understand the disease and its impact,

  • Supports ALS families through accessible mental health care, and

  • Helps advance life-saving ALS research in Canada.

Every dollar raised and every step taken moves us closer to a world where no family has to face ALS alone—and where one day, no one will have to face it at all.

Meet our Instructor
Swaat Mehra-Ramcharan

I'm truly honoured to be part of this special event in support of ALS Doubleplay, held at such a beautiful vineyard setting. I first met Cherrie years ago through work and had the privilege of getting to know her wonderful family, including her brother Chris, who was living with ALS at the time. Though I didn’t get the chance to know him deeply, it was clear he was an incredible person. Sadly, his health declined quickly—a stark reminder of how devastating this disease can be.

I support ALS Doubleplay because I believe in a future where no family has to go through what Chris’ family did. It means so much to be able to contribute in my own way by guiding a calming, grounding yoga session under the tent as the sun sets.

My hope is that everyone who joins leaves the practice feeling relaxed, at ease in their bodies, and more connected—to themselves and to each other. We’ll be moving, breathing, and supporting a powerful cause together, thanks to the heart and dedication of this incredible organization.
